The Oklahoma EITC must be expanded in our state!

WHAT

Practical, Fair, Necessary

Working families in Oklahoma deserve the Earned Income Tax Credit. The Oklahoma EITC is a highly effective tax benefit for Oklahomans who work hard but earn low to moderate income.

However, we have an opportunity to increase the power of this tax credit, and we need your help. Together we must call on our elected officials to do the right thing — expand the Oklahoma EITC and put money back in the pockets of the hard-working folks across our state who need it most.

Your voice is valuable!

From 2001 to 2016 the state legislature budgeted the EITC program, a benefit that hundreds of thousands of Oklahomans claimed, year over year, without a doubt. Bills that would restore the EITC have been drafted and presented for reinstatement, but have been unsuccessful and unpopular amongst the majority of legislators.

We encourage you to find ways to get involved. Together, we can express the importance of the Oklahoma EITC program, and how we prefer for our tax dollars to work for us!

Upcoming Events

This movement has an attainable goal. Together, we can urge our legislators to reinstate and expand the Oklahoma EITC, but it must be a group effort. We want to know about organizations and community events where we can talk about the program or distribute collateral to help grow momentum.

WHY

Benefits of Oklahoma EITC

REDUCE POVERTY

The state EITC is a tax benefit for working families, which has been proven to lessen the impact of poverty and improve the health and well-being of low-wage families.

BOOST LOCAL ECONOMY

Oklahoma households earning the EITC spend a large portion of their refund on basic needs, boosting the local economy.

OPEN DIALOGUE

The sensible ask of the state legislature to expand the EITC for taxpayers is a nominal request that would prove state dollars at work for Oklahomans

What we’re up against

SMALLER FUNDS

Lawmakers in 2022 de-coupled the Oklahoma EITC from the federal credit, which means the Oklahoma EITC will lose value over time due to inflation.

SMALLER RATE

The Oklahoma EITC is set at 5% for the federal EITC, making it one of the lowest rates in the country. Expanding the Oklahoma EITC rate to 10% would target tax relief to working Oklahomans.

SMALLER IMPACT

The EITC provides support to more than 200,000 working families .

Tell legislators to give working families in Oklahoma a boost!
